Professional Development Options
The Children's Health Council presents a mixture of professional development opportunities for individual educators, entire schools and school districts. We work with powerful professional development programs about learning that include:

All Kinds of Minds®

Schools Attuned® is a five-day 35-hour course that prepares educators to meet
the diverse learning needs of all students in the classroom. This groundbreaking professional development and service delivery program for K-12 educators can
help teachers understand, identify, and address differences in learning to help all students achieve success in the classroom and in life. Learn both the science of learning and how to immediately apply it to classroom scenarios. The Generalist Path (K-6) focuses on early- elementary to early-adolescent developmental challenges ant the Subject Specialist Path (6-12) focuses on early-to-late-adolescent development challenges.

Teaching All Kinds of Minds®

Our three-day professional development course involves K-12 educators in exploring the science of learning through academic themes and a better understanding of your learning profile. We begin with identification of educational initiatives or challenges being addressed in your classroom and school. We teach how the mind functions through our framework of eight neurodevelopmental constructs and consider how this new insight can support your classroom and school priorities.
Appropriate for grades K-12; curriculum is suited to mixed grade level groupings.

Recognizing that teachers, administrators and related service professionals are
in the best position to observe and manage differences in learning, the Program
helps them understand how the brain is “wired,” various ways that students learn, patterns of students’ differences in learning and how students’ passions and strengths can be used to overcome weaknesses within the regular classroom.

This program equips teachers to make the best instructional decisions to ensure
that each student can find academic and social success. When implemented within schools, this program enriches the way all children are educated.

The Children’s Health Council (CHC) is proud to be a Professional Development Provider for the All Kinds of Minds Institute delivering the Schools Attuned Program throughout Northern California. Workshops are conducted at The Children’s Health Council or can be delivered to individual schools and organizations by special request. Educators, nationally prepared by All Kinds of Minds, facilitate this program.

The Children's Health Council appreciates partnering with the
The Health Trust to bring the Learning Initiative to Santa Clara County.

The Santa Clara County Learning Initiative, a project of the Children's Health Council initiated and lead challenge funding provided by The Health Trust, focuses on school change in support of children who learn differently. It involves a professional development program for regular teachers called Schools Attuned®  which is
based on the groundbreaking work of Dr. Mel Levine. Mentoring and coaching
helps sustain and implement this approach which gives educators  a  unique research based neurodevelopmetnal approach to learning that increases their knowledge and power to improve school performance and help all students have greater academic success.
