Esther B. Clark School
Esther B. Clark (EBC) School is a nonpublic therapeutic school serving students between the ages of eight and 16 who have anxiety, depression and/or ADHD and may also have accompanying learning disabilities or speech-language disorders. The current capacity of the EBC School is 72 students.
All students enrolled in EBC School are referred by their school district. Funding administered by the district covers tuition and related therapeutic services.
Students participate in a six-hour day that addresses each student’s therapeutic, behavioral and academic issues in individualized and small group formats.
Students are grouped according to age, social and educational needs. Each classroom is staffed by a team of four professionals:
- Credentialed special education teacher who modifies instruction to accommodate each student’s unique learning challenges and assists students with acquiring grade-level academic skills.
- Teaching assistant who works with the teacher to achieve goals listed above.
- Therapist who is the therapeutic professional for students and families.
- Behavioral specialist who develops and implements behavior plans to teach positive responses to emotions and corresponding behavior.
On average, students attend EBC School for 30 to 36 months. When a student is equipped emotionally and educationally to return to his local public school, he’ll be gradually transitioned to ensure a successful reintegration.
Children with autism, primary intellectual, sensory deficits or severe behavior problems are not eligible for enrollment.
