Skill Building Groups
Skill building groups are a powerful tool for kids who lack critical social skills or have behaviors that make them vulnerable to teasing, rejection or isolation. They also help teens make successful transitions through the challenges of adolescence. See a matrix of skills we develop in our groups.
Matching Kids
Matching kids with the most appropriate peers is the key factor to group success. The art of matching involves getting to know your child, understanding your needs, evaluating how well your child’s strengths and challenges mix with other kids and then making a recommendation for an appropriate group. If we are unable to make the right match, we’ll help you find an alternative and keep you in mind for future opportunities.
Parent Participation
Every group includes an individual parent meeting at the end of the group to debrief and increase your effectiveness at home. Some groups also include the opportunity to observe your child in group with a leader who coaches parents (see groups marked with a “P”).
