Balancing Work & Life

CHC believes in the value of a healthy work-life balance. Our time off benefits, including paid holidays and vacation, will ensure you get rest and relaxation when you need it.

Flexible Scheduling

We understand the challenges of commuting in Silicon Valley! Many staff have a degree of flexibility in how many hours they work and when, and in some cases where as well. Flexible hours are arranged with your manager and may include working less than 40 hours per week, working remotely at times, working from either our Palo Alto or South Bay campuses, or working on a fee-for-service basis. School employees have less flexibility due to the nature of the school day.

Time Off for School Employees

School staff working at least 30 hours per week in either of CHC’s schools (Esther B. Clark Schools or Sand Hill School) receive the following time off benefits:

  • Paid summer and holiday breaks that align with the schools’ calendars, which include breaks throughout the school year and in the summer
  • Accrue 2 weeks of paid sick leave each year

Time Off for Non-School Employees

Employees working at least 30 hours per week receive the following time off benefits:

  • Accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation per year for their first five years of employment, then 4 weeks per year thereafter
  • Accrue 2 weeks of paid sick leave each year
  • Paid holidays – usually 14-16 per year!

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Optum Care 24 provides innovative decision support services to help staff address the sometimes simple, often complex health, well-being and work-life issues they face today. All services are completely confidential and include the following:

  • NurseLine
  • Therapy, Counseling and Mental Health Support
  • Financial Professionals
  • Legal Advice
  • Dependent Care Specialists
  • Self-care Resources

Continuing Education

CHC clinicians receive free continuing education classes that are offered onsite in Palo Alto and are reimbursed for professional memberships and license renewals.

Training & Development

At CHC, we value the growth mindset. Staff may choose from an instructor-led course in our area or register for online courses through our Employee Service Center. 3700+ online courses are available for you and/or your family.

Educational Reimbursement

Each benefit eligible employee will be reimbursed up to $1,500 a year for educational assistance.

Appealing Locations

CHC’s campuses are located in Palo Alto, CA and San Jose, CA. Our Palo Alto location is in a cozy neighborhood with numerous walking paths, and you will often find staff outdoors with clients, strolling with a supervisor or simply enjoying the scenery. We also have an office in the heart of the Ravenswood community. Our South Bay location is in the sleepy Cory neighborhood of San Jose with sunshine, plenty of parking and colorful murals on every wall.

Gym Access

CHC employees enjoy access to a fully equipped fitness center with state-of-the-art tools, equipment and amenities thanks to our partnership with Stanford West, a neighboring community near our Palo Alto campus.

Adoption Support

Adoption support is available for benefit eligible employees who have worked with us for at least 6 months. Employees can receive up to $1,500 for each adoption.

Time to Eat

CHC has several kitchens stocked with coffee, tea and plentiful snacks! We also provide monthly lunches for the entire staff to eat together, mingle and hear agency updates.
