The Neuropsychology of Reading, Writing, and Math Disorders - A Framework for Effective Intervention
The emerging field of cognitive neuroscience has provided educators with a brief glimpse of the basic neural mechanisms involved with academic learning. Therefore, the fundamental aim of this workshop will be to examine reading, writing, and math disorders from a brain-based educational perspective. The primary focus will be to classify learning disorders into distinct categories or subtypes based upon critical neurodevelopmental markers inherent within the child. There will be a discussion linking each learning subtype with scores of evidence-based interventions. In addition, four universal truths when teaching reading will be shared, as well as five essential steps for effective written language instruction, and keys to building mathematical literacy.
This course is open to professionals and will be taught by Steven G. Feifer, DEd. Download the course flyer (PDF).
