Iria has over 13+ years of experience working with children, teens and parents in a variety of settings and in the past 5 years, in the clinical setting.
Her areas of experience includes trauma, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, ADHD, anger management, grief, sexual abuse, parenting classes and also relational and spiritual issues. And all the described issues, also taking into consideration potential neuro-differences, including autism and learning differences.
Iria’s therapeutic approach blends compassion, cultural sensitivity and humor, aside from strength-based, client-centered and evidence-based practices. It includes solution focused brief therapy, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, Positive Parenting, and trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She is certified in Triple P (Positive Parenting Program) Level 4. Other relevant influences are humanistic therapies, transpersonal perspective, positive psychology, non-violent communication, self-compassion therapy, creative expression, Improv Theater and Aikido.
She is from Brazil and her experience as immigrant provides additional framework, and cultural sensitivity, working with diverse population, including Spanish and Portuguese speakers.
She believes that the path of healing and growth is lighter when one can have a better relationship and connection with oneself and others. She is passionate about working with children and families, helping them identifying their qualities and strengths. So, this way, they can overcome challenges and bring their gifts and joy to the world. During her free time, Iria enjoys nature, spending time with loved ones, going on “adventures” and learning something new “just because.”
