Introduction to Teen Mental Health
Under the direction of Dr. Ramsey Khasho, CHC staff members and other expert contributors provide answers—in a series of posts—to questions about the serious issue of teen anxiety and depression in our community.
The questions and answers are organized by topic:
Discusses whether depression is rooted in biology, environment, or both
Answers questions about the signs of anxiety and depression in preteens
Explores the factors that can increase the likelihood that a teen will have depression
Examines the impact that overcommitment and academic pressure can have on teens
Considers the pros and cons of social media
Outlines steps that school staff can take to promote awareness of and access to mental health support
Recommends approaches parents can follow if a child tends to be anxious or is dealing with depression
